It was a peaceful day for Peter Bacchus, he was quietly reading his newspaper when there is a knock at his door. His son is in hospital, he's been shot and in critical condition. He and John have just started to become close. Is he about to loose his son? (Tag to episode 5x04 and references to episode 5x03).

John has had a bad day at work and Leigh-Anne can't sleep. Set any time post-Series 3. One-shot.

Isabella Gently watches with kind eyes. Set post-5.04 "Gently in the Cathedral". One-shot.

Set after series 6 (although Rachel isn't in this). It is the anniversay of the death of Isabella Gently, so today is not a good day for George. It only gets worse when he is annoyed at John and snaps at John and later regrets this. But later he hears John is hurt and in the hospital and all he wants is to apologise and he discovers just how much he values his friendship with John.

Set between 5x04 and 6x01. George can't imagine solving cases without his Sergeant and friend John Bacchus. Donald McGhee has tried to kill them both, for George is he about to lose his friend? This story is from Gently's POV from that gripping scene in Durham Cathedral.

A bit of prose that came to me after watching this in a maudlin frame of mind.
