This story takes place during season 1 of Human Target as Chance and his partners try to prevent a revenge plot against FBI Agent Emma Barnes for the Russian Embassy incident.

Chance was an assassin at a crossroads, Winston an alcoholic cop burnt out on life when they met. They didn't know how a woman named Katherine Walters would change their lives, and forge a partnership. Six years later, that partnership is threatened when someone looks for the book they had hidden. The book over which three people had died protecting. Based on episodes 112 and 201.

Christopher Chance has his humerus fractured on a mission. When he walks out of the E.R. later that day, he is met by his two friends. This is far from my first fanfic, but it's my first for Human Target...
