She would then be leaving for Tokyo to attend her high school of choice. At least, that was the plan. On March 4th, right before an earthquake, Mai disappeared. 60 years later she found herself lost among 4399 people

Tom didn't regret his actions. He had known the risk he was taking on that bridge, and he recognized the fact that he might not come home. But he had also known that there was a chance to bring back Diana, and however small that chance was he was willing to take it. Because this was Diana, and if Tom couldn't save her then he might as well die with her.
